Generation Divestiture
In April, 1999, UI finalized the sale of its New Haven and Bridgeport Harbor generating stations to Wisvest Corporation, a non-regulated subsidiary of Wisconsin Electric Corporation.
After the closing, UI will continue to purchase, transmit, distribute and sell electricity for residential, commercial and industrial purposes in a service area of about 335 square miles in the southern part of Connecticut.
Over the past year, UI has participated in several dockets before the DPUC. These dockets established the rules for Retail Access in Connecticut. Included in the dockets are rules for: Standard Offer, Billing Format, Electronic Data Interchange, etc. For additional information, please contact the following Web site: www.state.ct.us/dpuc/.
For information on the Public Act 98-28 "An Act Concerning Electric Restructuring", please see the following Web site: http://www.dpuc.state.ct.us/electric.nsf/All?OpenView
UI's rates are published annually. For more information on UI's rates and tariffs, please contact the following Web site: Information for Suppliers/Aggregators.
Non-private customer list
In May 1999, UI provided customers with the option to label their accounts as private or non-private. The private status applies to the release of customer lists, and not to the release of historical usage. The information contained in the non-private customer list includes: name, address, telephone number, if available and rate class. As the law states, this information is available to DPUC-licensed Electric Suppliers only.
Customer Historical Usage Information
Customer historical usage information is available to DPUC-licensed Electric Suppliers and Aggregators. The historical includes up to 36 months of data including: kWh (on- and off-peak), demand and shoulder kWh, as well as customer name, account number, service address, phone number, rate class, billing cycle and meter environment. DPUC-licensed Electric Suppliers and Aggregators are required, by law, to obtain the customers authorization prior to receiving this information.
Connecticut Electronic Business Transaction (EBT) Working Group
Last year, the DPUC, established the Electronic Business Transaction Working Group. The EBT Working Group developed the business rules for the enrollment of customers. The group consists of: Connecticut Local Distribution Companies (LDC), Electric Service Providers, the DPUC and other interested parties (i.e. CellNet).
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) protocol developed by the working group was adopted by the DPUC in March, 1999. For more information, please review the: Connecticut EBT Report. (Requires Acrobat Reader)
The group meets frequently to discuss ongoing issues that may have an impact on Retail Access in Connecticut. For more information about the current status of the Connecticut EBT Working Group, please contact the DPUC.
