Security deposits are for commercial accounts only. Rates determine the amount you pay each month for your monthly energy usage.
 
Security Deposits

• In accordance with the Department of Public Utility Commissioners (D.P.U.C.) regulation 16-11-105, UI may require a security deposit of up to three (3) months of the highest billed usage based on the previous tenant’s usage.
• Security deposits can be waived if you have an existing UI account that is in good standing (continuous on-time payments of utility bill) or if you are a new customer with a letter of credit from your previous electric/gas utility.
• After twelve (12) months, security deposits, with accrued interest, are refunded to commercial customers with accounts in good standing.
