125 Years of Powering Connecticut’s Communities
Our company traces its origins to 1881 with the founding of the New Haven Electric Lighting Company. After early challenges, it reorganized in 1883 as the New Haven Electric Company. In 1899, New Haven Electric merged with the Bridgeport Electric Light Company, forming UI and expanding into a regional utility.
