AVANGRID Awards $450,000 in Grants to Over 70 Community Organizations Across Connecticut
Neighborhood Assistance Grants Deliver More Than $4 Million in Funding Since 2010 to Help Support Energy Efficiency Upgrades for Local Nonprofits
ORANGE, CT — February 9, 2023 — United Illuminating (UI), Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG) and Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG) — all subsidiaries of AVANGRID, Inc. (NYSE: AGR) — today announced the award of $450,000 in grant funding through the Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Tax Credit Program to provide critical energy efficiency solutions for over 70 Connecticut nonprofit organizations. The grants, which will help important nonprofit and community organizations conserve energy and lower costs, bring the total UI, SCG and CNG have awarded through to program to $4.2 million since 2010. The program is administered by the State of Connecticut through the Department of Revenue Services (DRS).

UI, SCG, and CNG each provided $150,000 in funding through the NAA program.
UI’s contribution will benefit local organizations across the state including, including the Connecticut Zoological Society, which received a $15,000 grant to support greenhouse upgrades at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, which is the only zoo in Connecticut and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
SCG will support local organizations, including the Connecticut Association for Performing Arts (CAPA) which received a $10,000 grant for energy efficiency upgrades at the Shubert Theater in New Haven.
CNG’s contributions will benefit local organizations including Operation Fuel, which received a $10,000 grant to support its Hartford Better Homes and Buildings project. The project is aimed at increasing education and outreach on home energy solutions and best practices for working families.
