UI, SCG Partner with American Red Cross and Diaper Bank of Connecticut for Donation Event
Employee‑led event resulted in the donation of 47 pints of blood and over 6,600 diapers to support local families
ORANGE, Conn. — May 13, 2026 — Today, United Illuminating (UI) and Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG), subsidiaries of Avangrid, Inc., announced the donation of 47 units of blood and more than 6,600 diapers. Working with the American Red Cross and the Diaper Bank of Connecticut, employees volunteered their time and helped provide critical resources for families in need.

The Avangrid Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Avangrid Inc., recently provided $250,000 in support of American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program. The companies have a long-standing partnership with both the Red Cross and the Diaper Bank of Connecticut, supporting the organizations financially and with employee volunteer time.
The Avangrid Foundation amplifies employee service through its Energized for Good Program. Through this initiative, the Foundation donates to eligible organizations based on employee volunteer hours, up to 100 hours per employee, and matches employee contributions at 50 cents on the dollar, up to $1,500 per employee. As a result of this blood drive, the American Red Cross will also receive a monetary donation through the program, in addition to the 47 units of blood collected to support life-saving care for patients in urgent need.
