Learn MoreCommercial Security Deposits
Security deposits are for commercial accounts only. Rates determine the amount you pay each month for your monthly energy usage.
In accordance with the Department of Public Utility Commissioners (D.P.U.C.) regulation 16-11-105, UI may require a security deposit of up to three (3) months of the highest billed usage based on the previous tenant’s usage. Security deposits can be waived if you have an existing UI account that is in good standing (continuous on-time payments of utility bill) or if you are a new customer with a letter of credit from your previous electric/gas utility. After twelve (12) months, security deposits, with accrued interest, are refunded to commercial customers with accounts in good standing.
