TempAssured Water Heater Lease Program Closure
The TempAssured Water Heater Lease Program is ending in accordance with the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority's (PURA) order in Docket# 22-08-08 issued on December 11, 2024. Customers will be transferred full ownership of their water heaters at no cost on November 8, 2025. Frequently asked questions
UI is phasing out the TempAssured Water Heater Lease Program as set forth in the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority’s (PURA) order in Docket# 22-08-08 on December 11, 2024. This change allows customers to take full ownership of their water heaters at no cost.
Billing will end effective October 1, 2025. You will no longer be charged the monthly lease fee for your water heater. However, you may see a partial lease fee on your next bill covering the period you were leasing the water heater from the end of your last billing period through October 1st.
Ownership of your leased water heater will transfer to you on November 8, 2025, at no cost. After this date, you will be responsible for all maintenance, replacement, and any associated liability.
UI will continue to provide support for leased water heaters through and including November 7, 2025. After that date, UI will no longer offer service or support for these units.
No action is required on your part. Ownership will automatically transfer to you on November 8, 2025.
