Make-Ready powers your fleet forward
The transition to fleet electrification can help lower your operational costs and reduce diesel emissions to support the state’s clean energy goals. The Light-Duty Fleet Managed Charging Program makes it more manageable. Within the program, incentives can cover up to 100% of eligible Make-Ready installation costs plus up to 50% of eligible EVSE charger costs for qualifying projects to offset the costs of developing EV charging capacity.
Consider a fleet assessment
Connect with our fleet assessment services. We provide site feasibility, rate analysis, estimated billing impacts and charging recommendations to help you make informed decisions when transitioning your commercial fleet to electric vehicles.

How to participate in the Make-Ready program
Qualifications
The program is open to all Eversource and UI commercial electric customers in Connecticut. To qualify:
- The applicant must be a commercial (non-residential) customer, meaning the site cannot be a single-family home or a multifamily property with four or fewer units.
- The service address must be a physical location within Eversource or UI territory.
- New commercial customers may apply for electric service at qualifying non-residential properties within the service area.
- Eligible installation sites include workplaces, light-duty fleet facilities, public parking locations, DCFC charging stations (fast chargers), and multifamily properties with five or more units.
- Site hosts must own the property, have a long-term lease (10 years+), or secure written landowner consent.
Eligibility
To receive incentives, projects must meet these key requirements:
- Application approval: Customers must apply and be accepted into the program.
- Qualified equipment: Only EVSE hardware and software listed on the Program’s Qualified Product List are eligible.
- Installation standards: All installations under the program must use qualified electricians, adhere strictly to electrical and safety codes, enable networked data reporting, and complete commissioning before incentives are released. DCFC projects specifically require EVITP-certified installers.
- Data access: All chargers must be networked and share usage data with Eversource or UI (software and monitoring fees are the site host’s responsibility).
- Operational commitment: The site host must own, operate, and maintain the chargers for at least five years.
- Equipment categories eligible for incentives: Utility-Side Make-Ready Infrastructure (New or Upgraded Service), Customer-Side Make-Ready Infrastructure (Existing Service), and EVSE Charging Stations.
How the Make-Ready program works
Watch an overview of the advantages.
Steps to streamlined installation
1. Connect with your contractor
Your approved contractor can discuss your EV charger needs and the incentives of the Make-Ready program.
2. Create a site design
Work with your contractor and us and the site host to determine the best location for new charging stations.
3. Apply for the program
Your contractor will submit your site design and application. We will assess eligibility and feasibility to determine the incentive amount.
4. Build the station
We work with you to build the necessary electrical infrastructure.
5. Receive payment
Once the charging stations are installed and activated, you or your contractor must submit documentation and we provide the incentive payment.
EV Charging Station Capacity and Underserved Communities Map
If you are planning to install DCFC stations or another large EV charging load, it is important to understand the site’s load capacity, which can dramatically affect costs. Click on Electrification Capacity in the load capacity map to access the correct EV charging load map and determine if a site can support new EV charging load. You can also determine if your customer’s site qualifies for incentives of up to 100%.
